Key word - SOMA (presence of physical symptoms that suggest a general medical condition but cannot be explained by it fully)

PSYCHO + SOMA

Disorders include :

  1. Somatization Disorder - history of physical complaints before age 30 + 4 pain symptoms, 2 gastrointestinal symptoms, one sexual symptom, one pseudo neurological symptom+ symptoms cannot be fully explained by a general med condition.
  2. Undifferentiated somataform disorder - unexplained physical complaints lasting atleast 6 months
  3. Conversion disorder - unexplained symptoms or deficits affecting voluntary motor or sensory function that suggest a neurological or other general medical condition. psychological factors are judged to be associated with the initiation or exacerbation of symptom
  4. pain disorder - pain as the predominant focus of clinical attention. psychological factors are judged to have an important role in  onset maintenance and severity of symptoms
  5. Hypochondriasis - preoccupation with fear of having or idea that one has serious disease
  6. Body Dysmorphic Disorder - preoccupation with imagined or exaggerated defect in physical appearance
